A home beside the tide
Taitimu sits on the edge of Taipari Strand at Te Atatū Peninsula, where the upper Waitematā Harbour brings beach and river views, walkways, a wharf and parkland to the doorstep — yet the city is only twenty minutes away. Working with HabitusMode Architecture, Fotheringhame reimagined three neighbouring sites on Taipari Road, totalling almost 2,800 square metres, as a community of 19 architectural townhouses delivered in stages and completed in 2025. The name carries the place: Taitimu, the ebbing tide, paired with Taipari, the high tide — a nod to the rhythm of the water the homes look out across. That natural sensibility runs through the material palette. Western Red Cedar and Nu Wall aluminium cladding give each home a warm, grounded exterior designed to sit easily in its coastal setting and perform for the long term beside the harbour.
