Nu Wall began with aluminium extrusion and a belief that it could be used for more.
In the 1980s, advances in extrusion technology made it possible to shape aluminium with precision, consistency and strength at scale. Aluminium offered durability, stability and repeatability, but its architectural potential remained largely unexplored.
Nu Wall emerged by connecting that capability to a practical need.
The earliest profiles were deliberately familiar. Timber-look weatherboards designed to sit comfortably within New Zealand streetscapes while offering something different beneath the surface. Aluminium that would not rot or warp. A finish designed to endure.
As New Zealand confronted the challenges of weathertightness, Nu Wall became part of a new generation of building solutions for both new homes or where for reclad of water compromised existing homes. Combining the durability of aluminium with a cavity-based cladding system, it offered architects, builders and homeowners’ greater confidence in how buildings would perform over time.
Over the decades that followed, the system continued to evolve. Profiles expanded. Finishes grew. Proven through real buildings in real conditions, from coastal exposure and urban density to alpine extremes, Nu Wall built confidence across New Zealand's built environment.
Working closely with architects, builders and specifiers, the system evolved to balance architectural freedom with proven performance.
Today, Nu Wall remains proudly New Zealand owned. Products are locally extruded, coated and supported, backed by generations of aluminium expertise. The principle remains unchanged: create cladding systems that perform reliably, endure New Zealand conditions and support architecture that stands the test of time.
